April 22nd & 23rd - Fenghuang (Phoenix) Town, Hunan

The water town is as picturesque as all the pictures I have come across, and more.  To be on the boat is like becoming the subject in a beautiful painting.

A UNESCO World Heritage site - Fenghuang, on a cloudy spring morning.

The Yang family Memorial Hall.

The Chinese tourists throw notes into their wishing pond !
It's groundnuts in the wok, but no idea what he is preparing.

Tea shop.
Home of Sheng Chongwen, the very first Chinese writer to be nominated for Nobel Prize.
Fried tofu seems to be a common road side snack in Guangzhou and Hunan.

These structures are more than hundred years old.
That brown patch on the right is not a sculpture or an artist's installation, the property was burnt down recently.

Dried produce from the river (I think) for sale.

This scene must have worried many foreign tourists !

Chinese wine shop.
Reading Sheng Chongwen.
