While this is supposed to be the most challenging day trip of our 16 days journey, the few photos here hardly tell anything about the experience, the amazing landscape of the gorge nor the treachery path we took. I had to switch on all my senses (don't remember when was the last time that happened, maybe never did!), watched every single step, constantly finding balance on the narrow and sometimes slippery path as we ascended, lest I slipped and fell into the ravine! And we haven't yet seen Guzhou! I had to make sure the cameras were safely put away, but it also meant very little photography. It was a 3 hour hike, balancing on spikes and climbing ladder on the gorge wall. Maybe just as well not many of us quite know what to expect. It was first rumoured to be dangerous! But after having shared our fear with our guide, Pan Hong, she had such confident in our agility and strength that all previous worries seemed unfounded. So off we went!

This place look so barren, you won't think there is anything exciting around. The only place in China in our 16 days where we did not encounter hoards of tourist other than a few youngsters. |

Shoes and gloves are being sold just at the entry to the gorge. Not sure about the shoes, but the pair of cotton gloves I bought was certainly a necessity. We had to hold on to the metal chain for dear life most of the time! |
This is easy but watch out for slippery surface. |
The path is only wide enough for single file. |
We had to enter this little cave below, and did a vertical climb on the wall, about 2 storey high, and came out from the hole to ascend further. Our safety very much depends on the chain. |

Some interesting local fruits.
