April 22nd - Dehang Miao Village

Not much happens in this village, but the two hour walk along meandering river
and endless greenery was most beautiful and invigorating.  At times, one can't help feeling like walking into a Chinese landscape painting.

Pan Hong, our lovely guide of the Dujia ethnic minority.

It looks like the bridge is also a common space for village folks to dry their laundry on a wet day.

The long walk to the waterfall.

Where trekkers can have a break and enjoy some snacks.

We now look very much like the tiny figures in a Chinese landscape painting.

The waterfall is like a piece of thin silk that is being blown in the air when the wind picks up.   It was an exhilarating experience to be standing in front of it.

The spring shower came and went.
Where we later watched a Miao performance.

After being welcomed by a sip of rice wine, we had  to sing two songs in order to be allowed into the village.  We managed, without having to sing the national anthem.

Costume show.
